Abstract

Influence of the earthquake, tsunami and radiation accident of 2011 in Tōhoku region on Japan's regional policy are considered. The article is based on program and normative documents of Japan's regional development, reports on the state of regional economy and the industry, budget data and financial reports, published by public authorities of Japan, and also publications of the Japanese press. It is concluded, that 2011 disaster accelerated implementation of development policy in Tōhoku region. At that, the policy implementation is limited by the traditional government regulation and closely interwined with the general plan of Japan's economic development.
